PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition having excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy of a type of melt dripping upon ignition by compounding a rubber-modified styrene resin having a specified reduced viscosity with an at least specified proportion of a cyclic phosphoric ester compound. SOLUTION: A rubber-modified styrene resin (100 pts.wt.) having a reduced viscosity of 0.40-0.60 dl/g is compounded with 1-70 pts.wt. organophosphorus compound containing at least 50 wt.% cyclic phosphoric ester compound of formula I. In the formula, R1 and R2 are each a monovalent aromatic group of formula II (wherein Ar is phenyl, naphthyl, anthryl, pyridyl, or triazinyl; n is 0-5; and R3, which may be bonded to any position on the Ar except the position to which the phosphorus atom is bonded through an oxygen atom, is methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, or a 6-14C aryl bonded to the Ar through oxygen, sulfur, or a 1-4C aliphatic hydrocarbon group).
