PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a rubber sponge difficultly stained with metal ions, capable of assuming white or bright color and having excellent physical properties. SOLUTION: In a sulfur crosslinked rubber sponge, a vulcanizing accelerator is formulated with both a thiazole-based accelerator and a xanthogen sulfide and, if needed, the rubber sponge is formulated with an antibacterial agent. The rubber sponge makes a special production facility unnecessary and can be produced with a conventional production facility.
