PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC AMINE SALT OF SULFONATED AROMATIC POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the production of an organic amine salt of a sulfonated aromatic polymer having relatively high sulfonation degree in high efficiency and yield by uniformizing the neutralization reaction of a sulfonation product with an organic amine. SOLUTION: An organic amine salt of a sulfonated aromatic polymer having a sulfonation degree of >=30% is produced by partly removing a sulfonation reaction solvent after the sulfonation reaction of an aromatic polymer, adding 1-100 pts.wt. of a lower alcohol to the system based on 1 pt.wt. of the residual solvent and reacting the sulfonated aromatic polymer with the organic amine in the produced solvent keeping the concentration of the sulfonated aromatic polymer to 10-60 wt.% based on the weight of total solvent.
