PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To slantly elevate an elevating stage provided with turning pulleys by providing guide rails with slantly elevated support bodies engagedly fixed thereto, parallel on both sides of the slant face of stairs, winding the intermediate part of a long belt with one end fitted to the upper part of the guide rail on one side, around the support bodies or a plurality of turning pulleys to fit the other end to a belt winding drum, and rotating the drum. SOLUTION: One end of an elevating long belt 12 is fitted to the upper part of a guide rail 3 on one side of stairs 1, and the other end is fitted to a belt winding drum 15 provided above a guide rail 3 on the other side, after being wound around turning pulleys 13, 14 provided at a plurality of parts of an elevating stage 9 or support bodies 4 elevated on the guide rails 3. The belt winding drum 15 is rotated by a driving motor 16 to pull or loosen the elevating long belt 12, thus elevating the elevating stage 9 provided with the turning pulleys 13, 14, slantly along the stairs 1. Compact design structure noiseless and high in safety can therefore be obtained.
