PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress stress due to twisting deformation, etc., likely ill influencing the support frame installed ranging over the lower building portion and higher building portion of an intermediate base isolation building. SOLUTION: A base isolation building is composed of a lower building portion having a hoistway 8 and a higher building portion having a hoistway 9 installed upon the lower building portion with a base isolation device interposed, and a support frame 6 is installed ranging over the two shafts, and an elevator car is put running continuously between the two building portions. In this elevator device, means 13 and 14 to suppress twisting deformation of the support frame are installed between the support frame 6 and the wall surfaces 8 and 9 of the two hoistways confronting the support frame.
