PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an ease of use by relating and storing one or a plurality of printer names to a plurality of network protocols, and displaying the printer name related to the specific network protocol when a predetermined process request is received from a host computer. SOLUTION: When a power source of a printer 1 is input, a name of a printer used last before the power source is cut off which is stored in a temporary memory part 17 is displayed to a display panel. When the printer 1 receives communication data, a network protocol of the communication data is judged and moreover, contents of the communication data are judged. When the communication data transmitted from a host computer 2 are judged to be a printing request, a print name is specified on the basis of the judged network protocol. Subsequently, the specified print name is stored in the temporary memory part 17 and the print name is displayed to the display panel. Printing according to the received communication data is started.
