PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve surface roughness of a gear face of an external tooth gear, and to reduce generation of noise due to meshing. SOLUTION: An inner tooth gear 120 for machining cut with one internal tooth is prepared. A polishing head 31 which functions as the internal tooth is disposed in a portion where the internal tooth is cut out. The polishing head 311 is composed of a film abrasive 320 and a backup roller 312. An external tooth gear W to be polished and machined is brought into internal contact with and engaged with an inner periphery of the inner tooth gear 120 disposed with the polishing head 311. In such conditions, application of input motion (revolution) to the external tooth gear W makes the external tooth gear W to perform rotative motion by meshing with the inner tooth gear 120, and such motion of the external tooth gear W becomes generating motion by which a gear face of the external tooth gear W is polished by the polishing head 311 in a tooth profile direction. |
