PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel-made supports and a construction method, using log members and half-split log members capable of offering strength and durability against torsion or weight load from a wall surface as well as simplification, easiness and quickness of work when forming supports made of steel material permitting fitting and fittableness of the ends of log members and half-split log members to be used for buildings such as log houses. SOLUTION: For supports for buildings such as a log house using log members 1 and half-split log members 2, #-shaped cross section has 8 projected tips, of which two tips 3 located close each other are considered as one set and a total of 4 sets can be created and the two tips in one set are connected together with a flat steel portion 4 creating a closed space, and tip portions 5, 5 separated far maintain an opening portion 6 and form a support comprising a #-shaped steel member 7 and is installed. Also, after installing the support, a projected end 8 of the log member 1 or a step-shaped lug end 9 of the half- split log member 2 is fitted to the opening 6 and used for forming a wall surface of a log house or the like.
