PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction port body provided with a braking mechanism to surely stop a turbine fan and a rotary brush when the suction port body is lifted from a floor. SOLUTION: The suction port body of a vacuum cleaner has a brake plate 11 mounted on a body case 2 so as to be close to a shaft 5 of a turbine fan, a projection portion 16 formed on a shaft portion 3b of a drive pipe 3, and a claw portion 17 formed on an upper end of the brake plate 11, and when the body case 2 is rotated by the shaft 3b of the drive pipe 3 with respect to the drive pipe 3, the brake plate 11 is rotated together with the body case 2, and locked to the projection portion 16 by the claw portion 17, and brought into contact with a brake ring 15 of the shaft 5 of the turbine fan by a brake shoe 13 through the displacement with respect to the body case 2.
