PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an automatic apparatus in a forging press, by which the phenomenon that materials are omissively fed is prevented, and the forging precision and the productivity can be improved. SOLUTION: In an inlet side carrying device 3, a material detector 6 for detecting whether the feeding material is supplied into a transfer feeder 4 or not, and the control unit 7 for controlling the feeding movement of the transfer feeder 4 are provided. This controller 7 executes the ordinary feeding movement to the transfer feeder 4 when such detecting signal as to supply the material is received from the material detector 6, and temporarily stops the transfer feeder 4 at a waiting position when the detecting signal is not received from the material detector 6, and then, when the detecting signal of the material to be successively supplied is received within the setting time of this temporary stop, the transfer feeder 4 is started, and reversely, when the detecting signal of the material is not received within the setting time, the transfer feeder 4 is started at the same time of completing the setting time.
