PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively and positively using aluminum dross for industries instead of disposing of the aluminum dross as an industrial waste and provide an alumina spinel castable refractory material having a good durableness and an excellent economy. SOLUTION: A method of using aluminum dross residual ash produced by recovering aluminum from aluminum dross produced at the time of refining aluminum is disclosed, the aluminum dross residual ash is burned and then used as a raw material for an alumina spinel castable refractory material. The alumina spinel castable refractory material is made by using a burned alumina dross residual ash obtained by burning the aluminum dross residual ash. A burned aluminum dross residual ash obtained by adding a magnesia production raw material to the aluminum dross residual ash and burning it may be used.
