摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel DNA which is used for controlling plant height, consists of a DNA encoding sucrose phosphate synthase and is useful in increasing or the like the biomass of grass grains and pastures or the like by improving light distribution characteristics by the increase in grass height. SOLUTION: This DNA is used for controlling plant height and is a novel DNA encoding sucrose phosphate synthase. The introduction of this DNA permits of the control of plant height and the increase in plant height serves for improving light distribution characteristics and is useful for the increase or the like in the biomass of grass grains and pastures or the like. This DNA is obtained by designing a suitable primer pair by the widely known base sequence information on a gene encoding sucrose phosphate synthase to carry out PCR using a genomic DNA prepared from the objective plant as a template and screening out a genomic library by the use of the resultant amplified DNA fragment as a probe.</p>
