PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer an escalator installing structure to allow installation on stairs set over from a lower story floor to the upper. SOLUTION: An opening 20 is formed at the top of stairs 4, while a pit 21 is formed in the lower story floor 5 at the bottom of the stairs 4. An upper sprocket wheel 10 is installed in the opening 20 while a lower sprocket wheel 11 is installed in the pit 21, and a chain 12 is set over from the upper wheel 10 to the lower 11, and stairs 13 are coupled over the whole running path of the chain 12, and the upper circulation region of these stiars 13 is located over the above stairs 4 while the lower circulation region is located under the stairs 4. This constitution enables the lightening of the escalator 1 installed on the stairs 4, and escalator 1 can be installed without reinforcing the stairs 4.
