PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer compound useful as a dye-fixing element and an antioxidation agent for a silver halide photosensitive material by including a new monomer unit bonded with a phenol derivative. SOLUTION: The objective polymer compound (e.g. the compound of formula III) contains a monomer unit of formula I [R11 is a substituent; R12 is H or an alkyl; R13 is H, methyl, ethyl or a halogen; Y1 is←CONR4 (R4 is H or a 1-4C alkyl;←is bond of the side of the polymer main chain); X- is chlorine, bromine or iodine ion or hydroxyl ion; Z is an atomic group necessary for forming a 5 to 7-membered hetero ring with nitrogen atom; (n1) is 1-5] or formula II (R21 is a substituent; R22 is H or an alkyl; R23 is same as R13; (n2) is 1-5). The compound is produced by synthesizing a heterocyclic vinyl compound containing Z and nitrogen atom and capable of forming a quaternary salt, copolymerizing the obtained compound and reacting the produced polymer compound with an alkyl halide, or the like, bonded with a phenol derivative.
