PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of the loading operation at a container terminal. SOLUTION: A container crane 8a of short-leg gate form is installed so as to be capable of running as stradding a dock 60 excavated perpendicularly to a wharf 12 and admitting intrusion of a container ship 7 and performs loading and unloading of containers 13 with the aid of two or more trolleys 8d, wherein container storage devices are installed on both sides of the dock 60 as stretching along the dock 60, and rails 8c for trolleys are laid on buildings 50 erected adjoining to the container storage devices on their dock side and having flat roofs 50a lower than the container storage devices 30, and a crane girder 8f is overhung in gate form to outside the short leg part 8b, and it is arranged so that the trolleys 8d can traverse till the outer extremity of the girder 8f.
