PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel that can readily start line-winding in no occurrence of line loops or binding knots at the initial starting part on the reel. SOLUTION: A line-insertion hole 2k, into which the fishing line can be inserted, is formed on the fishing line-winding drum of the spool and the position of the inserting hole 2k in the drum 2a becomes the stationary part 2m. The pin 12 is fixed to a more front position than that of the insertion hole 2k in the drum 2a. The cylinder part 4a of the fishing line holder 4 that has the convex cross section is fitted to the inner peripheral face 4a of the line-winding drum 2a and the collar 4b of the line-holder 4 is brought into contact with the vertical wall 2d, and the top end 3a of the line to be wound up is nipped and held, and fixed with the screw 13 fitted to the screwed hole 2n on the vertical wall 2d. A hole 4c through which the line can be inserted and a notch 4d are formed on the cylinder 4a. The position of the line-inserting hole 4c on the outer periphery of the cylinder 4a becomes the stationary part 4g.
