PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of remarkably improving a growth regulating action of a plant such as improvement of sugar content, growth promotion or the like even if the amount of application is small, originating from a natural product having a high safety and useful in the field of agriculture, forestry or the like by including an alga body of a specific fine algae and its extract or the like. SOLUTION: This composition preferably contains more than one kind of materials selected from an alga body of a fine algae belonging to Botryococcus such as Botryococcus braunii SI-8 strain, SI-30 strain or SI-55 strain, extract thereof and pulverized powder thereof preferably in the ratio of about 1-1000 ppm based on the total amount. Preferably a cultured alga body collected from the culture obtained by culturing a fine algae belonging to Botryococcus using carbon dioxide as a carbon source is used as the alga body to produce the composition. Preferably the composition is useful for improving sugar content of tomato, propagation promotion of root of a rice plant, weight increase promotion of a plant body, improvement of germinating rate or the like.
