PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition improved in mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy, warpage, transparency, and surface smoothness without impairing a balance among them by including a polyarylate resin with an intercalated compound prepared by mixing an amino compound and a swellable silicate in a dispersion medium. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. (A) polyarylate resin and 0.1-50 pts.wt. (B) intercalated compound prepared by mixing an amino compound having at least one amino group and a swellable silicate in a dispersion medium. Component A is obtained by reacting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (e.g. terephthalic acid) or an esterifiable derivative thereof with a diphenol [e.g. 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane] or an esterifiable derivative thereof. Component B is obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. swellable silicate (e.g. montmorillonite) with 0.1-200 pts.wt. primary to tertiary amino compound in a dispersion medium and has an average layer thickness of at most 500Åand an average aspect ratio of 10-300.
