PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve generation of jaggy in a contour line by using a dither matrix of a large image resolution for high-resolution input data and a dither matrix of a small image resolution for a low-resolution input data. SOLUTION: PLD image input data is input from a host computer 1 and resolution information is output to a printer 13 in a controller 14. A CPU 12 of the controller obtains an enlargement ratio for low-resolution input image data. When a resolution of the input image data is judged to be low, the CPU avoids generation of jaggy in enlarging images by a neighboring pixel average method or a filtering process. On the other hand, when the resolution of the input image data is judged to be sufficiently high, images are enlarged through a simple enlargement, thereby shortening a processing time. Moreover, a dither matrix for a dither process is selected to an enlargement ratio of the input image data from the obtained enlargement ratio and image resolution. |
