PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a useless pump load at clutch OFF time by providing a fluid pressure adjusting means for circulating a hydraulic fluid under first fluid pressure or second fluid pressure lower than the first fluid pressure when actuating a lockup clutch so as to engage or release a casing and a turbine. SOLUTION: When directly connecting a casing and a turbine 43 by actuating a lockup clutch 50, a solenoid directional control valve 67 of a hydraulic fluid circulating means is turned on, and a hydraulic fluid circulates. Fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid at this time is adjusted to first fluid pressure 6 kg/cm by a first relief valve 74. Next, when releasing the connection of the casing and the turbine 43 by actuating the lockup clutch 50, the solenoid directional control valve 67 is turned off, and the hydraulic fluid circulates. Fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid at this time is adjusted to second fluid pressure 2 kg/cm lower than the first fluid pressure by a second relief valve 76 to thereby reduce a load of a hydraulic pump 60 of a hydraulic fluid circulating means.
