PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling insertion device which uses a seedling cartridge and can easily and efficiently insert seedlings, such as lateral branch seedlings having the same number of developed leaves, into the seedling receivers, respectively, of a seedling-collecting and raising apparatus for each seedling-collecting and raising apparatus. SOLUTION: This seedling insertion device which uses a seedling cartridge A is provided with a seedling insert mechanism G for lowering the seedling cartridge A having a plurality of nipping members 2 nipping seedlings P such as sweet potato seedlings and then inserting the seedlings P received and nipped in the nipping members 2 into seedling receivers w and with a seedling-releasing mechanism H for simultaneously opening the nipping members 2 to release the nipped seedlings P, after the seedling P are inserted. The nipping members 2 in the seeding cartridge A are arranged in a row at the same distance as that of two the adjacent seedling receivers among the plurality of seedling receivers w of a seedling receiver row in a seedling-collecting and raising apparatus W in which many seedling receivers w are longitudinally and latitudinally arranged.
