PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture unit capable of conducting a series of culture operations including sampling, culture medium introduction and culturing activity using a single arrangement. SOLUTION: This culture unit is so designed as to have an elastic porous form 2 carrying a culture medium, a case 1 holding the porous form 2 inside, and an openable opening on part of the case 1 so as to charge or discharge via the opening a sample or culture medium to be subjected to the test for the presence/absence of microorganisms.
