PRODUCTION OF COPOLYMER OF STYRENE-BASED MONOMER AND ACRYLONITRILE-BASED MONOMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a copolymer of a styrene-based monomer and an acrylonitrile-based monomer excellent in hue, transparency and heat resistance with low contents of residual monomers in a suspension polymerization. SOLUTION: (A) Dicinnamoyl peroxide and (B) another polymerization initiator having 65-110 deg.C temperature in which the half-life in benzene is 10 h are used in combination as a radical polymerization initiator in a method for carrying out a suspension polymerization of a styrene-based monomer with an acrylonitrile-based monomer in an aqueous medium using the radical polymerization initiator.
