PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier belt positioning device and recorder provided therewith which easily and surely positions a carrier belt, reduces the width of the carrier belt to be as small as possible, and miniaturizes the device. SOLUTION: This carrier belt positioning device is constituted by providing a stopper 51, which can be switched in a position projecting outward from a surface for stretching a carrier belt 15 and regulating a width directional end 15c of the carrier belt 15 and a position retreating inward from the surface for stretching the carrier belt 15 and releasing the regulation of the width directional end 15c of the carrier belt 15 in a platen 18, arranged between a carrier roller 12 and a drive roller 16, around which the carrier belt 15 is stretched.
