PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic fiber which is excellent in lateral rigidity, has stable storing performance and hardly causes reversion of a seat belt by forming the synthetic fiber by a multifilament yarn made by circular-section single fibers with a specified single fiber fineness and different in finess. SOLUTION: Synthetic fiber used as a seat belt is formed by a multifilament yarn made by two or more kinds of circular-section single fibers with a single fiber fineness ranging from 2 to 100 denier and different in fineness. A thin single fiber can easily enter between thick single fibers, and the contact surface between the single fibers is increased by a fine packing phenomenon so as to improve lateral rigidity retention of webbing. The thick single fiber occupies the surface of webbing, so that the contact area between webbing and fixture is lowered to enable smooth mounting and demounting. Further, the webbing wear resistance after long-time use is improved so that strength retention of webbing can be remarkably improved.
