PURPOSE: A method is provided for securing the privacy of data transmission between motor vehicle (20) control units CONSTITUTION: A process is disclosed for securing the privacy of data transmission between motor vehicle (20) control units (1, 2) which are interconnected by a data bus. The messages exchanged between the units are encrypted. Encryption depends on secret keys stored in the control units (1, 2) and on a time variable random value.
