PURPOSE: A process of preparing a polyimide resin using inexpensive raw material without a solvent is provided which is industrially advantageous as compared with conventional methods using a solvent. CONSTITUTION: A process is characterized in that one or two or more tetracarboxylic acid components selected from the group consisting of tetracarboxylic acid, tetracarboxylic acid anhydride and tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride capable of forming two imide rings after ring closure and diamine are mixed without a solvent and heat treated at 80 to 450°C, wherein the tetracarboxylic acid components and diamine are mixed in a molar ratio of 0.8 to 1.2 : 1.
