BISTABLE TWISTED NEMATIC LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A bistable twisted nematic liquid crystal display is provided to improve the capability of the bistable twisted nematic liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A bistable twisted nematic liquid crystal display device includes a front and rear polarization members(2,6), a first and a second substrates(3,5), and liquid crystal layer(4) inserted between the first and the second substrates. The front rubbing direction(7) and the rear rubbing direction(8) are arranged so as to provide initial twist angle(9). The initial twist angle of the liquid crystal cell is 180 deg;. The front and the rear polarization members excludes the shape of which the angle therebetween is 90 deg;. The initial twist angle of the liquid crystal is not a multiple of 90 deg; and/or the angle between the polarization members is not 90 deg;.
