The container for freezing or reheating foodstuffs has a container (4) tub and a lid (6) with a co-operating edge (14). Vents allow selective communication of air between the interior and exterior of the container. The communication is controlled by a tab (32) which selectively opens a hermetic seal on the edge of the container.
