PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize satisfactory light expansion in a desired viewing angle, and to reduce the fluctuation of luminance in each light emitting diode in a display device, and to make color mixing performance satisfactory, and to manufacture a light emitting diode with high productivity. SOLUTION: A lead electrode 204, on which an LED chip 2d is placed in a light emitting diode, is allowed to have the glossiness D expressed by the equation D=log (1/R) (R is a reflection factor in a direction at 45 deg., and R=(reflected light quantity/incident light quantity)) which is adjusted so as to be ranging from 0.05 to 0.3. Moreover, the surface of a partial area, including the reflecting part, is allowed to have the degree of brightness D, which is adjusted with this range as another configuration. Thus, satisfactory light expansion can be realized, and sealing by a mold member and mounting by soldering can be made satisfactory. |
