PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording density of an information recording medium having a servo burst area for controlling tracking of a reproducing head by reducing the servo burst area in the running direction of the medium. SOLUTION: A recording medium 100 has a data recording area 10 extended parallel with a running direction U while having plural data blocks 12 for recording/reproducing information and a servo burst area 20 arranged between the adjacent data recording areas 10. The servo burst area 20 has a servo burst pattern composed of a servo burst signal recording part 23 and a servo burst signal non-recording part 24 to be cyclically recorded in a direction R orthogonal with the running direction U. When (p) is defined as the pitch of data tracks and (m) and (n) are defined as mutually primary arbitrary natural numbers on the condition of n/m<2, a cycleλof the servo burst pattern isλ=2p×n/m. An accurate tracking control signal can be provided by four reproducing heads 30A-30D arranged in the same pitch as the track pitch (p).
