WATER CONTENT SENSOR AND GARBAGE TREATMENT APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water content sensor capable of accurately measuring water content by a simple structure and a garbage treatment apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: A water retainable electric insulating material 16 is provided in contact with a microorganism carrier 12 to be measured and an ammeter 20 is connected to both surfaces thereof through electrodes 22. A heater 18 is arranged to the periphery of the electrode 22 on the surface not being in contact with the microorganism carrier 12 of the insulating material. The water retainable electric insulating material 16 becomes the water content correlated with that of the microorganism carrier 16 by the contact with the microorganism carrier 16 for a predetermined time but is heated and dried by the heater 18 and the drying time of the water retainable electric insulating material 16 can be known by measuring the time required until the current value from an electric cell 21 becomes almost zero by the ammeter 20. The water content of the water retainable electric insulating material 16 is calculated from this drying time and the water content of the microorganism carrier 12 correlated with that of the insulating material can be calculated.
