PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten processing time and to control a membership function for fuzzy control at high speed with high performance by determining the value ofωat the time of minimizing or maximizing an approximate function J'(ω) as a parameter valueωcnst. SOLUTION: An operator presetsω1 away from parametersω0 andω0 of the membership function for a prescribed distance, definesω1 as an initial value and finds an evaluation function value J(ωi) corresponding to a parameterωi to be increased so as to satisfy prescribed rules. Whenωi is increased toω2,ω3 andω4, the evaluation function value is continuously decreased but increased with a certain parameter value and the passage of a minimum value can be recognized. An average valueωavg withωi+1 adjacent withωi of the minimum value is found, evaluation function values J(ωi), J(σi+1) and J(ωavg) ofωi,ωi+1 andωavg are found and substituted to secondary approximation function J(ω)'=aω2+bω+c, coefficients (a), (b) and (c) are found andωat the time of having the minimum or maximum value is found. Thisωis determined as the parameter valueωcnst.
