<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain communication by storing a network layer address relating to a node to a memory together with a port identifier and a data link layer address that correspond to the network layer address or finding it out so as to interconnect a plurality of network segments adopting different data link layer address designation systems. SOLUTION: A network layer bridge 41 is connected to a LAN segment 42 having a node A via a port P045 and to a LAN segment 43 having a node B via a port P146 respectively. The bridge 41 interconnecting the nodes A, B has a memory that stores IP addresses relating to the nodes together with corresponding port identifiers and MAC addresses. The node A broadcasts an ARP request to request a data link layer address of the node B and receives an ARP replay from the node B to conduct required processing. Thus, an IP datagram can be sent/received between the nodes A, B.</p> |
