PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power converter, capable of restraining switching loss comparatively easily and of controlling the current of a commutating circuit for soft switching. SOLUTION: In power converters such as an inverter and a converter, in which a series circuit comprising a pair of main switches Q1, Q2 are connected between a pair of DC lines, and a pair of the main switches Q1, Q2 are alternately turned on and off, a DC power supply 1 or a capacitor is connected between a pair of the DC lines 11, 12 via a first soft switching switch Q11. A series circuit consisting of a resonance inductor Lr, a second soft switching switch Q12 and an auxiliary power supply 10 is connected between a pair of the DC lines 11, 12. A diode D12 is connected inversely parallel to the second soft switching switch Q12. The voltage of the auxiliary power supply 10 is made approximately half the voltage of the main power supply 1. Then, the control timing of the soft switching switches Q11, Q12 is determined, based on saw-tooth voltage for forming PWM control signals for the main switches Q1-Q4. |
