PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a hollow phenomenon producing in the central part of a panel face after vacuum treatment and surrounding with a shrink band in a cathode ray tube in which the outer surface of the panel face is formed in almost a plane. SOLUTION: A semi-completed panel part 1 consists of a panel face 1a and a panel skirt 1b, the outer surface of the panel face 1a is formed in a curvature shape having a radius of curvature smaller than the radius of curvature of almost a plane shape of a completed product, the inner surface is formed in a curvature shape, a phosphor screen is formed on the inner surface, and the semi-completed panel part 1 is joined with a funnel part, an electron gun is fit to assemble a tube body, then the tube body is vacuum-treated, the outer surface of the panel face 1a of the vacuum-treated tube body is formed in almost the plane shape of the completed product, and the panel skirt 1b is surrounded with a shrink band so as to act the fastening force for holding almost the plane shape.
