PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly process image disturbance at switching of a synchronizing signal, and the transition of a display video accompanied by synchronizing switching by controlling the switching of first and second control signals for display, based on the output result of a difference information detecting means and a request for the switching of a display video. SOLUTION: A video processing control signal generating part 29 controls the method of video processing in a vertical direction to an inputted video, based on the output result of a second difference information detecting part 27 and a switching request signal D. A video signal processed by a vertical direction compression/extension processing part 20 is outputted through an output terminal 30. A synchronizing signal (a) being the output of a first synchronization separating part 14, a synchronizing signal b being the output of a second synchronization separating part 16, and a synchronizing signal c generated by a synchronizing signal generating part 24 are inputted to a selector 23. The selector 23 selects one of these synchronizing signals, based on a control signal E outputted from a synchronizing switching control part 28, and outputs it as a synchronizing signal F for video display via an output terminal 31.
