PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop type transmission device whose fault occurrence part can be specified. SOLUTION: A transmission station of a loop type transmission device repeats a transmission frame received from both adjacent stations by transmitter- receiver sets 441, 442 to an opposite adjacent station and receives the frame in its own station. In the case of transmission, an error check code is added to the transmission frame, and in the case of reception, a transmission frame check circuit checks a signal received from encoder/decoder 431, 432 and a code violation detection signal, adds a detection result to a repeated transmission frame and a counter counts various states. A CPU 11 reads the count to specify a fault location.
