PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device where white balance using an improper setting value can be prevented in the case of conducting white balance control on the basis of a setting value resulting from white balance data. SOLUTION: When a DSP (white balance control means) 5 is about to conduct white balance control of the basis of user white level data (setting value) stored in an EEPROM (storage means), a CPU (comparison means) 8 compares a preset optical fixed value with input data and allows an LCD (display means) to make a warning indication when the CPU detects invalid data or destroyed data depending on the result of comparison.
