PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video information recording and reproducing device that prevents mis-recording due to an erroneous channel setting or no cannel setting in the case of reserving video recording so as to accurately reserve in an easily understandable way. SOLUTION: The video information recording and reproducing device is provided with an entry device 1 consisting of a remote commander or the like, an integrated microcomputer 2 that displays a broadcasting station name at video recording reservation setting and G code conversion under its control, a storage device 3 that stores G code conversion information, channel input information and a broadcasting station name at video recording reservation, a character output device 4 that generates characters for a broadcasting station name, and a display device 5. The integrated microcomputer 2 controls each device so that a broadcasting station name is displayed to a channel setting section of a reservation setting menu, makes warning indication of a broadcasting station name that is to be reserved when the channel is not set, and displays a broadcasting station name on a reservation list by using an area code when the are code is entered.
