PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for measuring a viscosity of a fluid which can be used also for a considerably dense fluid without generating a temperature rise and a mixing effect to the fluid. SOLUTION: An apparatus 100 for measuring a fluid viscosity includes a container 104 for storing a supply of a fluid 102 and, a member 106. The member 106 shifts in the fluid 102. The apparatus 100 includes a measuring mechanism 122 connected to the member 106 and associated operably with the container 104 for measuring a force necessary for shifting the member 106 in the fluid. The measuring mechanism 122 is constituted to measure the force necessary for shifting the member 106 in the fluid 102. The force indicates a viscosity of the fluid.
