PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a stereoscopic image without a sense of incongruity while executing gradation control by changing a time division pattern in accordance with scanning of a screen. SOLUTION: At the first scanning, the state of a pixel is turned on only for a corresponding period in an order from a bit B7 to a bit B0 but at the second scanning, the state of the pixel is turned on only for a corresponding period in an order from the bit B0 to the bit B7. After then, at the odd- numbered scanning, a gradation pattern is similar to that at the time of the first scanning but at the even-numbered scanning, the gradation pattern is similar to that at the second scanning. As long as the screen is scanned in a fixed direction by gradation control like this, a light area and a dark area no longer appear normally in a pixel passing area. Namely, the pixel passing area becomes a continuous area in brightness of some degree. As the result, a stereoscopic image being the set of the pixel passing areas becomes an image free from flicker and becomes natural for an observer. |
