PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an expansible rod antenna which is applied to a communication machine such as a portable telephone set and has a new form and a high sensitivity. SOLUTION: Plural follow antenna shafts 1a to 1f different by diameters are fitted in order to constitute a multi-stage rod antenna 1 which is freely expanded in the axial direction. A connection part 3 is provided to connect the attaching part of the portable telephone set to one end on the small diameter side of the rod antenna 1 with a freely bending joint 4 between them. Thus, the rod antenna 1 has a new club-shaped form and can surely catch a prescribed radio wave.
