PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication unit that implements data communication at a higher speed by utilizing prescribed regularity of a signal waveform in an ADSL communication system. SOLUTION: In the communication unit that uses a DMT demodulation system adopted by the ADSL for data communication, a transmission means utilizes the regularity that a first half part 2 of transmission data of an even numbered tone has the same signal waveform as that of a latter half part 3, a first half part 2 of the transmission data in an odd numbered tone has the inverted signal waveform to that of a latter half part 3 of the data, transmits the data by eliminating the signal waveform of the latter half part 3 that can be predicted. Furthermore, a reception means receives a transmission signal from a transmission means of other communication unit, generates the signal waveform of the latter half part 2 that is eliminated by the transmission means to reproduce the signal waveform for the one usual symbol.
