PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce higher harmonics of an input current and to increase power factor improving effect for wide range of loads in a DC power supply of various electrical apparatuses into which an AC power is inputted. SOLUTION: This power supply is made up of a rectifying means 2 which converters AC electric power into DC electric power, a series circuit comprising an inductive element 3 connected to the DC side output terminals of the rectifying means 2 and a voltage impressing means 4, rectifying and smoothing means 5, 6 placed parallel to the voltage impressing means 4, and a load 7 to which electric power is supplied by the rectifying and smoothing means 5, 6. The rise of an input current is made faster, by making an inverse voltage impressing element and a changeover means included in the voltage impressing means 4 and by impressing to the inductive element 3 a voltage, which exceeds the absolute value of the instantaneous value of an input voltage.
