PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of accurately and stably detecting the surface temperature of a fixing rotating body by using a non- contact type surface temperature detection means which does not cause the wear and tear of the fixing rotating body and optimizing a method for detecting output from a non-contact type surface temperature detection means for the fixing rotating body. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, recording material is interposed and carried by using the fixing rotating body 51 having a heating means 53, and the device is provided with the non-contact type surface temperature detection means 60 provided in a non-contact state with the surface of the rotating body 51 and outputting a surface temperature signal in accordance with the surface temperature of the rotating body 51, a carrying state detection means 64 detecting the carrying state of the recording material carried to the rotating body 51, and a controller 70 controlling the driving of the heating means based on the surface temperature signal outputted by the detection means 60 and the carrying state of the recording material detected by a carrying state detection means.
