PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sealing material composition for a liquid crystal display device with plastic substrates having such flexibility as to follow the soft plastic substrates and excellent in electrical reliability. SOLUTION: The sealing material composition contains 100 pts.wt. epoxy resin (a) containing 70-100wt.% phosphoric acid modified bisphenol A type epoxy resin, 50-100 pts.wt. terfunctional thiol compound (b) of the formula (where R1 is -C2H4OCOC2H4SH), 0.5-5 pts.wt. silane coupling agent (c) and 1-10 pts.wt. inorganic filler (d) as essential components.
