PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas oven by which an optimum rice cooking can be done irrespective of water temperature or water amount upon start of rice cooking. SOLUTION: In step S11, the weight of a rice cooker is measured. Then, the weight of a rice cooker itself which is already known is subtracted from the weight to measure the total weight of rice and water in step S12. Then, the weight of rice is calculated from the total weight. Then, in step S14, the weight of cooked rice is obtained from the weight of rice and water content upon cooking up the rice. At this time, it is considered that water of 14% is contained in the rice before cooking. Then, in step S15, a heating operation is started. After the heating operation is started, the temperature of an oven case is controlled to be constant. During the heating operation, in step S16, the total weight of rice and water detected by a weight sensor is measured. The total weight is compared with the weight of the cooked rice. When the former is not larger than the latter, a procedure moves to step S17 to finish the heating operation and enter a heat retaining state.
