PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for classifying video blocks for edit, that discriminate blocks including camera with lower quality such as a camera-shake and a rapid motion from shot blocks divided automatically, extract video blocks suitable for edit and exhibit them for a user as an edit resource so as to aid edit of video images. SOLUTION: An input video image 0 is analyzed, the video image 0 is divided and classified into video shot blocks 1 in a shot change block division classification step 11. Each picture included in the video image in the video shot blocks 1 is analyzed to calculate a characteristics quantity 2 in a characteristics quantity extract step 12. Whether or not the video image is proper for edit, that is, a block including camera work with lower quality such as a camera-shake and a rapid motion, is discriminated in a video evaluation step 13 to calculate proper video blocks 3 that are stable video blocks. The blocks 3 are exhibited for a user as a video resource in a video resource exhibit step 14.
