PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a lighting state stable for all gradation by preventing that a write operation is made unstable by other SF sets with a small number simultaneously turned on among the SF sets turned on when prescribed gradation is displayed in an image display device that displays gradation through ON control or OFF control to lighting of each SF. SOLUTION: The driver is provided with a minority SF address timing circuit 31 and an SF switch circuit 32, and a pulse width of a write pulse and a data pulse for an address period is extended only to only other SF sets whose number is small and that are simultaneously turned on. Thus, the write by the other SF sets simultaneously turned on and whose number is small is surely conducted to make discharge for a maintenance discharge period stable thereby making a lighting state of the PDP display device stable.
